Hello again.
Work on 2.2.0 is progressing steadily, though it's quite large in scale, so there's still a whole lot to work on. Today though, I have more game-wide changes to showcase.
Let's dive in to the game-wide UI overhaul coming in Fragment 2.2.0.
While the current, chat-based menu system works fine for a smaller scale server like Fragment, it feels clunky to use, along with making chatting with other players difficult with the constant chat wiping that comes with it.
For 2.2.0, nearly all previously chat-based menu's are being converted into using the newer dialog screens. This provides more visual clarity, ease of use, lets players use the chat more freely, and just looks a lot better in general. Let's take a look at some examples.
The Groups system has gotten a major visual upgrade with this overhaul, along with letting players browse Groups while already being in one.
Another screen receiving massive visual upgrades is the Legendary Collection. In addition to now showing the item's icon, you can also hover over it to see the full tooltip. The info about when an item was added and how it was obtained is still visible when hovering over the item's name.
As you might have noticed in the above image, there's a few visual updates coming to items as well.
First of all, we're adding a little life to the often visually bland walls of text. Certain keywords like status effects are now color coded in ability descriptions, and enchantments that specifically interact with a single effect type are also colored the same way.
Speaking of enchantment coloration, another change is that the "stat enchantments" are now greyed out in the tooltip, making it easier to tell which enchantments are the important ones at a glance.
Earlier you might have a seen the cool new tooltip borders Legendary items have gotten to make them stand out just a bit more, but that's not all. Legendary armor pieces have gotten their own icons, to help distinguish them from other items in your inventory.
The compressed materials (Scrap Metal, Imperial Alloy, etc.) have always had very bland tooltips, so I'm changing that. They now have a bit more color to them, along with a colored border to match their tier.
All old copies of these materials in player inventories will automatically be updated to the new versions when Fragment 2.2.0 releases, so don't worry about your current materials becoming useless.
That's it for this post.
We're slowly getting to the point where there's no more non-spoiler stuff to show off, so this might be it for a little while. But when we get closer to a release (Not anytime soon) there's going to be some sort of reveal trailer or something, so I guess that's something to look forward to.
See you next time.
